Kyelton-Lewisburg
Inter-faith Disaster Relief Board

The clean up effort in Lewisburg is still going on,
however; we have decided to set up an interfaith board
to better handle the effort. The clean up phase of the
effort is basically over, now it is time to look at
rebuilding the destroyed homes. We have set up an
interfaith alliance board to access all of the needs
of the victims and to organize the recovery. The
official name of the alliance is the Kyelton-Lewisburg
Inter-faith Disaster Relief Board. The chair-board is
as follows: Chairman - Art Shumway (Goodman Oaks
Church of Christ), Assistant Chairman - Gary Linville
(Cedar View Baptist Church & DCFCFF), Secretary -
Marilyn Johnson (O.B. 7th Day Adventist Church),
Treasurer - Alfred Bowen (Kyleton Church of Christ),
and our Assistant Treasurer -Mary Williams (Mineral
Wells United Methodist Church & Habitat for Humanity).
We also have an additional planing staff that consists
of James L. Bowen (Kyleton Church of Christ), Rev.
Robert Dottley (Pastor Cedar View Baptist Church),
Rev. John Perkins (Missions Director Northwest
Southern Baptist Assoc.), Rev. Ertis Johnson (Pastor
O.B. 7th Day Adventist Church), Rev. Danny Dabbs
(Pastor Hernando United Methodist Church), & Edward
Sturghill (Kyleton Church of Christ). Are main goals
at this point is training on how to guide an effective
recovery. We have set up a training for all of the
board members that will be led by Charile Molier of
Church World Services. Our first priority after our
training is completed around the middle of February
will be to access the needs of the victims that lost
everything, and had no insurance. We continue to need
your prayers and your support. We will still need
volunteers to help, no matter what age you are there
will be something that you can help do. We will be
planning several fund raisers in the future. If you
are interested in helping or you would like more
information please feel free to contact me. If you
would like to make a donation you can go to any
Bancorp South location and tell them it is for the
Kyleton-Lewisburg Disaster Relief Fund. Or you can
send it to the DeSoto County Fellowship of Christian
Firefighters address.

God Bless You,

We had a meeting with FEMA Friday Jan 4.
The meeting was to establish some type of interfaith
group that would be responsible for the long term
efforts of the tornado in Lewisburg. We want to try
to get someone from each orgniazation and each
denomination in DeSoto County to be in this effort.
Today we had a representitive from Several Different Orginazations including: The Director from the North
West MS Baptist Assoc., the Church Of Christ, Missionary Bapt, United Meth, Habitat For Humanity,
DeSoto EMA, DeSoto Board of Supervisors,
DeSoto Sheriff's Dept, DeSoto Fire, Fellowship of Christian Firefighters, Americian Red Cross, The OB Lion's Club, and The
OB Shrine Club.
Thanks,
Gary Linville
UPDATE:  We gave a check to the interfaith association for $1,218.93 on March 4th.
